Sheets Scores in Modified Main
Johnny Sheets and Ed Thompson led the 24-car IMCA Modified feature to green with Sheets getting a big jump. Allen Waltermire moved into second and Kenny Stone third as Thompson lost ground on the high side. Justin Radcliff got by Cody Daniel for fourth on lap 2. Greg Atwood followed taking third a lap later, while David Smith jr. worked his way up on the high side.
Regional points leader, P J Egbert and Daniel ran wheel to wheel for sixth until Daniel got turned around on lap 3. As green waved the inside row stacked up with several cars getting hooked together at the bottom of turns 3-4. Red was thrown to get all the cars unlocked. No one was injured. Sheets got away on the green with Stone getting by Waltermire for second and Atwood ran side by side with Radcliff for fourth.
Atwood then moved along side Waltermire for second on lap 5. Egbert, trying to clinch the regional title tried Radcliff for fifth on lap 7. Waltermire’s hopes of a top five finish ended on lap 8 when he blew a hose and was forced to pit from third. At the crossed flags it was Sheets, Stone, Atwood, Radcliff with Egbert and Smith side by side for fifth. Stone caught Sheets for the lead on lap 11 while Egbert finally made the pass on Radcliff for fourth.
Stone began to take a look inside Sheets on lap 13 as current points leader, Ronnie Warren and dueled wheel to wheel with Smith for sixth. Stone was still putting the heat on Sheets with five to go. In the pack, Warren got around Radcliff for fifth and fell back into the clutches of Smith who was one of the few able to run the high side.
Egbert was looking for third on Atwood while Smith and Warren were side by side for fifth in the final laps. Sheets opened up a slight margin with two to go, but Stone moved back in for one final shot. Stone gave it the old college try on the final lap but at the checkers it was Sheets in the Qwik Chassis getting the win by a car length.

Sovey Sweeps SportMods
A full field plus took the green for the IMCA SportMod, 20 lap main. Polesitter, Jeff Sexton grabbed the lead after a short side by side battle with Bobby Mercer. Mercer fell back along side Ed Thompson for second while Dillon Smith and Ricky Heckel were wheel to wheel for fifth. By lap 5 Sexton had built a good lead over Thompson, Mercer, Sam Sovey and Robert Black.
A dropped driveshaft on lap 6 brought out the yellow and rebunched the field. Sexton got away clean as green waved again while Heckel and Black both got by Mercer for fourth and fifth. Thompson slowed on lap 7 allowing Sovey, Heckel, Black and Mercer to get by. Mondo Nevaez and Charles Knight tangled at the bottom of turns 1-2 to bring out a caution on lap 8.
As green waved again, Sovey ducked inside Sexton, but in the back Thompson spun and collected several cars in the pack. Once back to green, Sovey again looked under Sexton for the lead as the race came to halfway with Heckel, Black and Mercer rounding out the top five.
Smith and Mercer were side by side for fifth on lap 12 as Sovey continued to pressure Sexton. Sovey got the spot on lap 12 with Heckel following through for second. Sovey then began to pull away as second through thirteenth battled for position while dicing through lap traffic.
