Davidson best in USRA qualifying for
"TexasSpeedZone.Com 125" Presented by Magnum Trailers

Kyle, Tx., (July 22nd 2006) The USRA Super Late Models made their second trip to the 3/8 mile D-shaped track just south of Austin on Saturday night. After a few brief showers delayed qualifying and washed any rubber off the surface, it was former(ROMCO) Super Late Model champion, Chris Davidson setting fast time in TexasSpeedZone.Com qualifying with a 14.493 in the Tuner Motorsports, Grand American Race Car Chassis powered by a Westside Performance motor.

"It was a horrible lap," said the current USRA points leader Davidson. "The track was as slick or slicker than it's ever been. Everyone was pretty much just holding on for two laps. It(the rain) isn't going to change the balance of the car, maybe the speed. We're going to go with what we've got and see what we can do in 125 laps."
'The short field won't change my stategy any. We'll pretty much let the field sort out the first 10-15 laps, ride for a while and see what we've got. Then go for it at the end, like usual."
"Keith(Riethmeyer) is more than capable. He's probably more capable than anybody here. I won't worry a bit about him out there. I just hope we can get in line and race."

Keith Riethmeyer, a fomer multi-time TIDA(Texas Independent Drivers Association) Late Model winner qualified fourth and drew the number one for the pole. "I've been out of a car for 10-11 years. I think I can get faster every lap. It's just not coming back as quick. Today's cars are about 100 horsepower more than when I drove. The way they handle it feels a lot better, too."
"Christopher's(Davidson) real fast, so is the the 04(Corey Roper) and the 03 (Matt Merrell). So as long as I can hold my line I can make it. I'll give them room on the outside.I'm wondering if I can make 125 laps. They(my crew) were wondering where I was going to put the oxygen mask to be able to make the whole race.”
Riethmeyer, who was driving one of his son Bradley's cars added. "I text messaged Bradley, another former (ROMCO)Super Late Model Series champion, to let him know. He's in Hickory N.C. and set fast time out there. They draw for the invert too so I'm not sure where he starts. But it might be two Riethmeyer' s on the pole in one night."
