USRA Modifieds and Trucks Set for San Antonio Speedway this Weekend

San Antonio, TX (May 4, 2006) – The United States Racing Association (USRA) Modified Series and the USRA Truck Series - two of Texas’ top touring series - will be paying their second visit of the season to San Antonio Speedway this Saturday evening, May 6, 2006.

The USRA Modifieds will be competing in a 75-lap feature – the “Magnum Trailers 75 presented by TexasSpeedZone.com” - while the USRA Trucks will be racing a 50-lap event - the “Magnum Trailers 50 presented by TexasSpeedZone.com” - at the high-banked, half-mile oval.

Both of the popular USRA touring series boast some of the top short track drivers in Texas.

Billy Becka of La Vernia, who won the USRA Modified season-opener in March, finished second to Hutto’s Mark Chrudimsky at San Antonio and came home third two weeks ago at Thunder Hill Raceway, leads the 2006 USRA Modified point standings by a slim six points over defending USRA Modified champion Bruce Beddoe of Robstown.

“We’re finally catching some breaks,” Becka said. “We won at San Antonio in March and I hope we can repeat this weekend. We’ve had more than our share of bad luck over the past couple of years, so it feels good to have things go well for us.”

In addition to Beddoe, Becka will be facing some tough competition from veteran Mark Chrudimsky, who won at San Antonio Speedway on April 2 and Ryan Engelhardt of Austin, who took the win at Thunder Hill Raceway on April 15. Sixteen year-old rookie Trey Mitchell of Wimberley and Beeville’s Bob Slezinsky also figure to make their presence felt as well.

Defending 2005 USRA Truck champion Shawn Paul Lehman of Manchaca sits atop the USRA Truck point standings with three top-five finishes under his belt so far this season.

Steve Green of Marble Falls, Jody Buzbee of Waco and Craig Roper of Vernon have all won USRA Truck races this season and should be counted among those with a legitimate shot at winning the 50-lap event.

Also appearing on the race card will be three of the San Antonio Speedway local classes - the SAS Late Models, Sportsman, Road Runners and Grand Stocks.

The San Antonio Speedway pit gates will open at 2:00 p.m. while the grandstands open at 5:00. p.m. The racing action will take the green flag at 7:00 p.m.

Admission is $15 for adults, $8 for Seniors and Military (with ID) and $3 for children 7-12. Children 6 and under are admitted free.

San Antonio Speedway is located at 3.5 miles south of Loop 410 on State Hwy 16 South, (towards Poteet).
