USRA Modifieds and Trucks Set for THR this Weekend

San Antonio, TX (April 11, 2006) - Two of Texas’ top touring series – the United States Racing Association (USRA) Modified Series and the USRA Truck Series - will be visiting Thunder Hill Raceway (THR) in Kyle, Texas, this Saturday evening, April 15, 2006.

Both USRA series boast some of the top short track drivers in the country and will joining the Texas Super Racing Series to make the 2006 Opening Night at THR a night to remember.

The USRA Modifieds will be competing in a 75-lap Feature event while the USRA Trucks will entertain the crowd with a 50-lap main event at the three-eighths-mile, D-shaped, paved oval.

Billy Becka of La Vernia, who won the USRA Modified season-opener in March and finished second to Hutto’s Mark Chrudimsky two ago at San Antonio, sits atop the 2006 USRA Modified point standings and will be looking for another strong finished this Saturday.

“It’s about time we have been finishing up front,” Becka said. “We’ve had more than our share of bad luck over the past couple of years, so it feels good to have things go well for us.”

Becka will face some stiff competition from the versatile Chrudimsky, defending USRA Modified champion Bruce Beddoe of Robstown, Ryan Engelhardt of Austin and Beeville’s Bob Slezinsky.

Defending 2006 Truck champion and THR favorite Shawn Paul Lehman of Manchaca has made a strong statement in the first two USRA Truck events finishing second and fourth and leads the USRA Truck point standings.

However, Steve Green of Marble Falls, who convincingly won the USRA Truck feature two weeks ago at San Antonio, as well as rookie Jody Buzbee of Waco, winner of the season-opener and Bryan Meredith of Austin should give Lehman all he can handle in this Saturday’s 50-lap feature.

Also appearing on the race card will be the THR local classes - Hobby Stocks, Street
Stocks and Grand Stocks – as well as the Texas Super Racing Series Late Models.

Saturday’s racing action is set to take the green flag at 5:00 PM. For more information about the United States Racing Association, visit http://www.usraspeed.com.
