San Antonio, Texas (March 2, 2006) - The Texas Pro Sedans touring series will open their 2006 season with a race at San Antonio Speedway on Saturday night, March 11. The race will mark their 31st consecutive season of four cylinder stock car racing at the half mile, 19 degree high banked SAS asphalt track.

The Texas Pro Sedans event will consist of 2 laps of Qualifying Time Trials and a 25 Lap Feature Race. The race will be run under TPS rules and procedures in which yellow flag laps are not scored. A green-white-checkered flag is required to officially finish a TPS race under full racing conditions.

Texas Pro Sedans Series Race and Administrative Director, Neil Upchurch has announced that a pre-entry list of 20 Texas Pro Sedans has, so far, been received for this event.

Included in the race entry list are the three drivers who have each won the TPS Driver Championship over the past 30 seasons and several other significant drivers:

Sergio Hexsel of San Antonio will again “be up on the wheel” of his familiar #20 VW Rabbit. He was the TPS Champion last year and will defend his 2005 TPS Championship during the 2006 season. In his championship season, he won four of the eleven TPS feature races.

Donnie Moore of Hutto, Texas driving the #70 VW Scirocco won three of eleven 2005 TPS feature races. Moore was second in 2005 TPS Driver’s points. He was the 1990 TPS Champion.

John Leonard of Universal City, Texas owns and drives the #89 VW Rabbit. He won the TPS Championship in 1991. He has filed entry for his brand new Texas Pro Sedan race car.

Tom Johnson of Kingsland, Texas won the 2005 “TPS Rookie of the Year” title. He has filed entry for the San Antonio Speedway race in his fast #15 VW Rabbit.

Mike Knotts of Universal City, Texas has filed his entry. He has competed in all but three of more than 500 TPS races in the past thirty years. Knotts is the only charter member driver remaining in the Texas Pro Sedans.

A complete program of USRA Super Late Model, USRA Modified and USRA Truck racing will highlight the March 11th opening 2006 race program at San Antonio Speedway.
