Top Dwarf Car Driver ends Winning Streak.
By Bill Morris
Frank Furia, from Wallis, Texas, finished fourth in the very competitive Dwarf Car Competition marking the end of his seven race winning streak. Point Leader Steven Gilbert of Markham picked up the checkered flag ahead of his Markham neighbor Victor Vargas and Grant Hensen of West Colombia.
Vince Louden, of Shiner, winner of eight feature events, had to settle for a second place finish behind Victoria’s Jason Zarbock in the Sports Mod feature event. Zarbock did double duty by winning the Super Stock event ahead of Victoria’s Ken Densman.
Starting his own streak in the Hot Stock Division was Inez’s Bob Ort who visited the winners circle for the third consecutive week.
In the popular and growing IMCA Modified competition Aaron Hudgeons of Cuero topped the thirteen car field. Following Hudgeons to the checkered flag was Johnny Thomas, of El Campo, who was also a driver doing double duty. Third spot in the IMCA Feature went to Corpus Christi’s Dale Flanagan.
Competitors will return to TRP again next Saturday, September 3rd, before taking a two week break, but will return to the track on September 23rd for the final two weeks of the 2005 season.
