NASCAR Season is Underway.

(February 12, 2005) - 2005 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series is under way. The annual non-points race, The Budweiser Shootout at Daytona, traditionally kicks off the Nextel Cup season. The race was won by Hendrick Motorsports driver Jimmie Johnson in the #48 Lowe’s Chevrolet for his first Daytona restrictor plate victory. Segment 1 winner Greg Biffle finished fifth in the final rundown after leading a good portion of the night’s competition. Ryan Newman only had a two tire pit stop to come home in second place. Race pole sitter Dale Jarrett finished 15th .
