Stewart continues stranglehold on lead; ROY chase gets interesting

(Austin, TX) As the summer heat (thankfully) starts to wind down, the competition for the TSRS (Texas Super Racing Series) Rookie of the Year chase just got really hot.

An unfortunate accident to Dillon Spreen in last Saturday’s TSRS “Back to School 75” at Thunderhill Raceway (Kyle, TX) left the 14-year-old Boerne (TX) resident just 31 points ahead of the hard-charging Jake Kruger (Bastrop, TX), who grabbed his fifth Top-5 finish of the season with the fourth-place showing Saturday night.

Both have two more races at Thunderhill Raceway (THR) – Sept. 13 and Sept. 27 during the Texas Stock Car Spectacular. Both are extremely competitive and it should be a great race to the finish.

Another hot-and-heavy race is for second place, where Robert Barker (Boerne) took the #2 spot away from San Antonio’s Brian Moczygemba. Barker grabbed his seventh Top-5 finish by finishing third on Saturady while Moczygemba piloted his red, white and blue #50 to a sixth-place finish.

Barker trails points-leader Heath Stewart (Del Valle, TX) by 114 points, a seemingly invincible lead – unless some bad luck should befall the former USRA Super Late Models champion.

As stated, the series returns Thunderhill Raceway on Saturday, Sept. 13 for another 75-lap feature race – it will be the second-to-last race of the 2008 season.
