Tankersley Tops ASCS Gulf South at GTRP
Lonnie Wheatley, BEAUMONT, Texas (August 15, 2008) – Channin Tankersley notched his third American Sprint Car Series Gulf South Region feature victory of the season by reaching victory lane in Friday night's 25-lap feature at Golden Triangle Raceway Park.
The 17-year-old took command five laps into the main event and led the rest of the way to secure the victory aboard Griffith Trucking Equipment No. 71 Maxim.
Tankersley was chased to the line by Bruce Crockett, Travis Knighton, Tommy Bryant and Aaron Reutzel, with Greg Rilat holding on to the series points lead with a sixth-place run.
Brandon Berryman paced the initial circuits before tripping over the cushion on the fifth lap and getting upside down.
Tankersley, Rilat and Kathryne Minter earned heat race wins.
