San Angelo, Tx.,(August 2nd, 2008) San Angelo Speedway’s tight 1/4 mile, high-banked clay oval hosted a regular night of racing with the Modifieds, Hot Stocks, Street Stocks, Mini’s, and the recently added Sport Modified class.

Priddy Picks Up San Angelo Pay Day
Veteran Abilene driver Shane Priddy put all his experience to use in the Modified feature to master the tricky track conditions. On the first start, Wayne Pruitt got the jump on Priddy but Jim Thorpe sailed over the turn 3 hill to bring out a caution. On the second try Priddy out snookered Pruitt to grab the lead on lap 1.

Greg Dinsmore made an early exit in the feature after breaking axle in the heat race leaving the car undriveable. Thorp was next to pull off after his trip over the hill on the initial start. Pruitt was able to hang with Priddy early even taking a look inside. Priddy held steady and then pulled away in the Big Johns, SSFX Graphics, Skyrocket Chassis to grab the win.

Priddy Doubles His Pleasure
In the 20-lap Sport Modified feature Shane Wojtek beat Terry Wojtek into turn 1 for the lead. S. Wojtek then began to inch away from T. Wojtek who had Priddy on his heels and challenging for second. Priddy took a quick look inside T. Wojtek on lap 4, but lost some ground after getting loose off turn 2.

S. Wojtek got tangled with Robert Foucha on lap 8 tearing off some sheet metal and suffering a flat right rear. Priddy shot past T. Wojtek who backed off to avoid the accident taking the lead on lap 9. S. Wojtek slowed to bring out a caution to get him safely off the track.

Once back to green Priddy got a couple car lengths on T. Wojtek. With five to go the field had separated out, with Priddy increasing his lead. As the white flag waved, Priddy had built his margin to a full straightaway over T. Wojtek and was able to cruise to the victory in the SSFX Graphics, Pittman’s Garage, Big Johns Chassis.

Jim Thorp took the lead at the start of the 20-lap Hot Stock feature with Jason Adcock and Mike Lang falling in line. The top three pulled away separating themselves apart early in the going. Adcock closed back up on Thorp near halfway and began challenging for the lead. After several tries to no avail looking inside Thorp for the lead, Adcock then tried the high side. Adcock could get along side Thorp in the corner, but not complete the pass as Thorp powered down the straights. Adcock gave it the ol’ college try on the final lap but came up a little short as Thorp held on for the win.

After a quick caution Hudec gain eased out front with Clayton getting by Wright on lap 5 for second. A multi-car tangle on the backstretch involving Robert Field, Karah Ward and Josh Lovelace brought the action to a halt on lap 6.

Once again Hudec got away clean on the restart from Clayton. In the pack Field, Ward and Wright battled for third nearing halfway. Hudec had built a huge margin over Clayton when Ward and Field got together on lap 14 to bring out yellow. As the race went back to green Joey Timberman got into Wright who lost a wheel, while Field went over the turn 1 hill and got tangled in the fence. Once back to green, Hudec showed the field his rear bumper easily pulling away to take the win by a straightaway.
