Whiteaker Jr. wins Bud Light Labor Day Blowout at South Texas Speeedway By Owen Pittman Corpus Christi, TX (September 6, 2006) On Sunday, September 3, 31 Modifieds made the trip to South Texas Speedway for the Annual Labor Day Blowout. The track officials would line up four heats based on the draw of a pill. The first heat would be dominated by the #07 Adam Schach, which would earn him the pole for the $1000 to win main event. The second heat would be a good one with #91 Bobby Maupin taking the checkered, heat three had several local hot shoes in it with #89 Steve Whiteaker Jr. taking victory and heat four was dominated by #55 Danny Brown. Top 5 from each heat would transfer to the main event with the remaining cars going to the dreaded B-main. The B-main fielded 11 cars fighting for 4 spots in the rear of the A-main, #9 Brandon Blaylock would jump out to an early lead and never look back on his way to victory. The results of the B-main would complete the 24 car field for the 30 lap main event of the evening. When the green flag fell on the A-main #91 Bobby Maupin would find his way to the point immediately with #55 Danny Brown close behind, lap 2 found the #55 Danny Brown out front where he would stay until lap 5 when #89 Steve Whiteaker Jr would make the pass for the lead on the low side. Whiteaker Jr would stay out front all but one lap of the remaining 25 where #91 Bobby Maupin managed to get by him around lap 20 but Whiteaker Jr made his way back to the front before the next lap had ended. In the end Steve Whiteaker Jr would pull his Hughes Racing Chassis, Texas Services, KO Grafx, Certain Automotive, Access Ford, American Car Wash, WW Bodies, #89 into Victory circle. This made the 10th win for the eighteen year old Whiteaker Jr. this season at South Texas Speedway.
