USRA was formed in March 2005 by Terry Dickerson, Chief Executive Officer. Dickerson and his wife, Tammy, own the three USRA touring series, including the Super Late Models, Modifieds and Trucks. USRA also manages San Antonio Speedway. As part of the reorganization, Rick Day will assume the role of President of USRA and will continue to act as General Manager of SAS and Race Director for USRA and SAS. Day will be responsible for the race operations for the USRA touring series and the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series classes at San Antonio Speedway. He will also supervise the entire operation of San Antonio Speedway. Debbie Williams will function as Vice President and Assistant General Manager. Williams will assist Day in the organization and day-to-day operations of USRA and San Antonio Speedway. She will also continue her current responsibilities for San Antonio Speedway media and public relations. Dickerson has decided to take a back seat in the management of the USRA organization and plans to turn his focus towards his equipment sales business. “I’ve been involved with racing for the past eight years, and it has taken up most of my weekend time,” said Dickerson. “I want to spend more time with my wife, Tammy, and my 16-year-old daughter, Stormy. My son and grandbaby are also planning to move into this area soon. Although all of us really enjoy racing, we want to do some other family activities that aren’t centered around racing. Of course, I’ll still be involved with some of the major decisions, and I also plan to attend most of the upcoming races. But otherwise, I’m leaving it up to my staff to handle the racing business.” “I feel I have the right staff in place to run the business,” added Dickerson. “Fortunately, Rick Day has brought a lot of expertise to us after assuming the General Manager’s role last February. And he’s proven that he has the background and knowledge to effectively manage any kind of race operation. I’ve found out that if he doesn’t know the answer to something, he has lots of contacts in the racing business that can help him make decisions. And with Debbie’s support and the rest of the management team, I’m confident that Rick will do well in his new role.” San Antonio Speedway is the only NASCAR sanctioned short-track in the state of Texas. It is located in the San Antonio city limits, approximately 3.5 miles south of Loop 410 on State Highway 16 South towards Poteet (near the new Toyota facility). The USRA series appears at several different racing venues in Texas, including San Antonio Speedway, Texas Motor Speedway and Thunder Hill Raceway.
