Race ‘em and Wreck ‘em in El Zorro Enduro 200 Race
Thunderhill Raceway in Kyle offers some exciting racing action this Sunday
KYLE, TX (February 25, 2008) – An unusual form of racing – known as the1st Annual El Zorro Enduro 200 – is being presented by Thunderhill Raceway (THR) this Sunday (March 2) starting at 2 p.m.
The Enduro racing format is similar to other forms of stock-car racing, with one major exception. No yellow flags will be used during the race.
That means open racing – and some great action from start to finish!
And it also means big money for the drivers. THR officials have guaranteed that the winner will receive a big chunk of change. The winner will receive $100 for every car entered in the race. For example, if 50 cars are entered in the Enduro 200, the winner will receive $5,000.
The entire 200-lap Enduro race will be held under green and red flag conditions. The red flag will only be used in fire emergencies and/or incidents that may cause endangerment to a driver. Enduro drivers will have to maneuver around stalled cars on the track and hazardous track conditions to battle for the lead. Rather than rely on speed, drivers will need to focus on endurance to finish this race.
“We really expect the fans to enjoy this unique race format,” said Mary Ann Naumann, THR’s Owner/Promoter. “Without any type of caution conditions, I envision the race to be more like a Demo Derby that can take place almost anywhere on the track. I feel sure that the race will be fun for the drivers and incredibly entertaining for the fans.”
The race will be preceded by the 4th Annual JRA Kids’ Club “Rain or Shine” Swap Meet that begins at 8 a.m. and a Worship Service that’s scheduled for 10 a.m. K-MAC Sports (www.kmacsports.com) will also begin a season-long program of broadcasts for JRA; the first one will air Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on kmacsports.com.
Thunderhill Raceway is a 3/8-mile, asphalt D-shaped oval track. It is located at 24801 IH-35, near the Yarrington Exit (#210). Parking for all of these events is free, and food and drink will be available for purchase.
